Rebekah Adams
Registered Nurse and Concord Christian Church member, Rebekah Adams is using her skill and passion for medicine to care for people beyond her career. As a volunteer Faith Community Nurse (Parish Nurse) through CMC-Northeast for Concord Christian Church, she is leading the Health & Wellness Ministry. She received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from East Carolina University and a Master's Degree in Nursing from Gardner Webb University. She has a vast nursing experience from a variety of settings including critical care, cardiac care, hospice, and case management.
"I have a passion for helping others, this is why I chose nursing as a career. I feel that by becoming a Faith Community Nurse and leading this ministry, I am using my passion to give glory to God. I volunteer because of my love for God and my love for people! Ephesians 2:10 states that We are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.'"
Julia Huff
Julia graduated in 1982 from Baptist School of Nursing in Louisville, KY. Since that time, her nursing experience has been in the hospital setting providing cardiac care. In February, 2010, Julia decided to leave the hospital setting and now works at Mid Carolina Cardiology's new location in Concord.
Julia is married to Bob and they have two grown daughters, Sarah and Rachel. Julia shares that she has a great interest in using her nursing experience to serve her church and community about healthy lifestyles and disease prevention. "I am very excited to be able to support the Health & Wellness Ministry at Concord Christian Church. It is great to be a part of a ministry that not only serves the spiritual needs of the individual, but the health needs as well," states Julia.
Jason Rose
Jason Rose, DC received his BA in Biochemistry, Cum Laude, from California State University at Sacramento and earned his Doctorate of Chiropractic degree from Parker Chiropractic College. He completed his internship at the Parker Outpatient Clinic as well as the UNEVE Clinic just outside of Mexico City. He has a Post Doctorate certification in Acupuncture from the Acupuncture Society of Ameria.
"I'm working with this ministry to reach the health and spiritual needs fo others through long-term health and wellness care. After all, the power that made the body heals the body" shares Jason.
Tori Smith
Tori Smith is a retired social worker with over 25 years of professional experience; she holds a
master's degree in social work from the University of Connecticut. Tori worked with all age groups in community-based health care settings, specializing in home health and hospice, bereavement care, and hospice administration. She is especially proud of having developed and administered two rural hospices in southwest Virginia, describing those as her most rewarding professional achievements.
Tori and her husband, Bob, moved to Kannapolis two years ago and it wasn't long before she began volunteering with Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County. She is currently a "Community Connector" for Concord Christian Church, acting as liaison between the church and the Sowers of Hope hospice program. She is further involved in the community as a Master Gardener with the Cabarrus County Extension agency and she also enjoys volunteering with the Survivor Ministry of Concord Christian Church.
Tori is a strong advocate for health and wellness education and for equal access to quality programs. "I'm excited about the Health & Wellness Ministry; it is the perfect tool we can use to help identify needs and available services. People want to be healthy but they don't always understand how. What better way is there to serve God than to teach people how to better care for themselves?"
Grady Hardeman
Grady Hardeman currently serves as Head Athletic Trainer for A.L. Brown High School, providing
sports medicine care to the students and staff; and he also teaches Sports Medicine and Health through the physical education department. Prior to coming to A.L. Brown in 2008, Grady held similar positions in the Cabarrus County School system. Other work related experiences include serving as Head Athletic Trainer at Western Carolina University from 2004-2006, and as Director of Sports Medicine Services at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia from 1999-2004. His other accomplishments include completing two internships with the Carolina Panthers Football Club and working as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at The Citadel in Charleston, SC.
Grady earned a Bachelors of Science Degree in Sports Medicine from Wingate University (1996) and Masters of Education Degree in Physical Education from The Citadel (1999). He is certified as an athletic trainer by the Athletic Training Board of Certification, a licensed athletic trainer by the State of NC, and certified as a strength and conditioning specialists by the National Strength & Conditioning Association.
Grady is a native of Kannapolis, NC. He currently resides in Concord with his wife, Dana and two daughters, Jordan (9) and Lindsey (5). He states, "My goal is to further God's kingdom by helping others live healthier lives. This is not something that I do, but is something that God does through me."
