What You Can Expect on Your First Visit

We are pleased you are considering The Counseling Service of Concord Christian Church for your counseling needs.

We serve the Concord and surrounding communities and assist in the areas of stress, anxiety, depression, life and career transitions, relational issues and crisis issues.  We work with adults, adolescents, older adults and many others.

We have extensive experience in working with adolescents, career counseling and executive coaching.

Our clinician, Larry Furr, is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of North Carolina (#7225), and a Nationally Certified Counselor (#221699).  He has a Masters degree in Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and a Masters of Business Administration from East Tennessee State University.

Larry has been a Professional Counselor since 2007 and has over 3000 hours of clinical experience.

When you visit our office you can expect to be treated with dignity and respect in a warm, caring, and confidential manner.  We will work with you in individual counseling sessions, group counseling or both.  These sessions will be held in a professional atmosphere and wil require your active involvement in efforts to change thoughts, feelings and behaviors.  Counseling provides no instant cures.  There will be work in and out of the counseling sessions to include homework.  Often change takes time and effort from both the client and their families.

Our working approach to counseling is Reality-based with elements of Solution-Focused, Gestalt, Cognitive-Behavioral and Existential theoretical orientations.  We are a Christian based firm and find those foundations and influences greatly assist in successful counseling.

Our initial session will consist of reviewing your history and goals in counseling and establishing the counseling relationship.
